There are many efforts underway across the field of Classics to confront the longtime and damaging exclusion of underrepresented groups, especially Black and other people of color, from the field.
This year’s Student Leadership Camp was truly one of a kind. What made it especially unique was the involvement of our youth facilitators, who brought an incredible passion and dedication to creating an unforgettable experience for all the campers.
We are giving a standing ovation to The United Way and Sacramento State for awarding 10 former Foster Youth Students a monthly $500 stipend for the next year to assist them with their finances as they concentrate on their studies.

In August 2023, members of the Department of Sound participated in a 4-Day Youth Development Institute aimed at cultivating engaging and supportive environments for youth growth.
The ICSC is a hybrid professional development opportunity focused on creating and enhancing equity, diversity, and inclusive practices. The audience includes teachers, administrators, family childcare providers, as well as paraeducators, higher education teaching staff, and educational coordinators.
