Ingobernable - C Tangana

Curated by Julian Montoya

Crema, Puchito, Agorazein, El Madrileño—many names, one artist: C. Tangana. From hip-hop and trap to pop, flamenco, and traditional Spanish rhythms, he’s quietly reshaped the music scene. His influence can be seen in artists like Rosalía—his former girlfriend—who has taken similar sounds in her own direction.

I first found his music around 2016 with 100k Pasos and Bolsas. Coming from Bogotá’s harder hip-hop scene, his softer, more emotional style felt unexpected—and ahead of its time.

In El Madrileño (2021), Ingobernable (“ungovernable”) speaks to a love that feels out of reach. To me, it also reflects something else: the kind of recognition that still feels overdue for an artist who has been a true precursor.

With collaborations like Gipsy Kings, Andres Calamaro, and Jorge Drexler, the album feels both expansive and intentional—just like his impact.
